What is the best type of solar panel?
Choosing a solar panel can be complicated:
yield guarantee, polycrystalline, spectral light distribution?
Who understands all the terms?
Here at Voltaicos we prefer to keep things simple, at the end of the day there are two choices:
FOIL-GLASS TYPE
GLASS-GLASS TYPE

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
The difference between the two is obvious: a double glass solar panel uses two layers of glass instead of the usual single layer combined with a laminated backsheet (a foil). The solar cells are in fact encapsulated between two layers of tempered glass, bonded together using a special encapsulant. This protects the solar cells from moisture, dust and other environmental factors such as hail, snow and high winds. In addition, these solar panels usually have a better resistance to UV radiation and perform better in high temperature areas. Â
BENEFITS OF GLASS-GLASS SOLAR PANEL
- Durability: Glass-glass solar panels are known for their enhanced durability. The use of glass on both sides provides better protection against environmental factors such as moisture, humidity, and temperature fluctuations.
- Improved Performance: The dual-glass design of these panels helps to maintain better performance over time. Traditional solar panels may experience efficiency losses due to factors like delamination or degradation of the backsheet.
- Aesthetic Appeal: Glass-glass solar panels often have a sleeker and more aesthetically pleasing appearance compared to traditional panels. The frameless design and uniform glass surface create a modern and minimalist look that can complement various architectural styles.
